Who Shined on Day 2 of Slam Dunk to the Beach?

Jonathan Kuminga

Kahlil Whitney (Roselle Catholic)

Kentucky commit Kahlil Whitney is one of the most dynamic prospects in the class of 2019 and he showed why on day two of Slam Dunk to the Beach. He has a real knack for getting to the rim, but what stood out most about him yesterday was his shooting ability. A year ago some considered Whitney’s shooting ability a real concern, but he proves time and time again this season that he has developed into a consistent shooter.

Colby Rogers (Roselle Catholic)

Roselle Catholic senior shooting guard Colby Rogers had a coming out party yesterday with his 23 point performance yesterday against Eleanor Roosevelt yesterday. Without his play, Roselle Catholic would have been in a lot of trouble as they pulled off a 76-72 victory. Rogers hit five threes and has begun to be more of a threat off the bounce.

Isaiah Gross (Eleanor Roosevelt)

Eleanor Roosevelt put up a fight against one of the best teams in the nation in Roselle Catholic yesterday. They took a tough 76-72 loss, but senior forward Isaiah Gross is to thank for keeping them in the game. Gross displayed a great deal of toughness and was a matchup problem on the court. He plays bigger than he is with his strong build and is a threat on the perimeter with how he shoots the ball.

Justin & Julian Champagnie (Bishop Loughlin)

The Champagnie twins continue to improve and rise as prospects. The class of 2020 forwards from Bishop Loughlin (NY) are very versatile with their ability to play the small forward and power forward position at a high level. This past AAU season high major schools begun to take notice in the both of them and it is safe their list should only grow.

Noah Collier (Westtown School)

Westtown School (PA) junior forward Noah Collier had a nice performance yesterday in his team’s 59-58 win over Vermont Academy yesterday. Collier was dominant at points as he finished with 26 points and grabbed 8 rebounds. The class of 2020 forward is what he calls himself a “Swiss army knife” with how impacts the game in a variety of ways. He spoke to Prep Circuit following his performance. (Article)

Jonathan Kuminga (Our Savior New American)

Jonathan Kuminga put together one of the best performances we have seen this high school season at Slam Dunk to the Beach. Kuminga scored 40 points and hit 8 three-pointers. His athleticism and ability to get to the rim has never been in question, but to see him shoot the ball this well was impressive, to say the least. He stands 6’7” with a strong build and with his skill set improving the way it is he makes a good argument for being ranked the top prospect in the 2021 class.

Anwar Gill (Gonzaga)

Senior wing Anwar Gill showed a great deal of leadership yesterday in Gonzaga’s 76-70 win over Our Savior New American. Gill is quite the athlete and does a great job competing on both ends. He is a great athlete and does a great finishing around the basket. Gonzaga has a talented team from top to bottom, but Gill is the glue guy that keeps this team on the same page.
