Class of 2020 guard Cameron Thomas

Class of 2020 guard Cameron Thomas’ stock continues to rise and doesn’t look like it’s stopping anytime soon with how he is playing at Oak Hill Academy. Thomas spoke to Prep Circuit on his experience at Oak Hill thus far, his recruitment and more.

Q: How has the transition been to Oak Hill Academy?

A: “It’s been a great transition for me and I think and it’s been a great season thus far. I’ve gotten a lot from this experience and I’ve just enjoyed it here.”

Q: What is it like sharing a backcourt with someone as talented as Cole Anthony?

A: “It’s been great playing with him, I love playing with Cole. He’s a great point guard who gets me the ball so he is just great to play with.”

Q: You are now receiving a lot more attention this year. How are you handling all of that?

A: “It’s been the same for me because I don’t really get into all of the internet stuff. I just play my game and if anything happens after that I don’t really worry about it. I just focus on what’s important.”

Q: How would you describe the way you play?

A: “I score the ball on all three levels and on this team I am a secondary ball handler when Cole is out of the game. I just try to be an all-around player.”

Q: You took your first official visit to NC State in October. How was that visit for you?

A: “It was a great visit and it was cool to see how the coaches interacted with the players. I got to see what their routine is so it was just a great visit for my first time. I loved it.”

Q: What stands out about their program?

A: “I like a lot about NC State and the coaches have been recruiting me very hard and showing a lot of love, which I really appreciate it. The coaching is what stands out to me the most right now.”

Q: You are receiving more high major offers. What is it like seeing this many schools recruiting you now?

A: “It’s just showing that my hard work is paying off with me picking up offers from high major programs. I’ve most recently picked up offers from Miami and Pittsburgh so I’m happy that I am making good progress.”

Q: People are going to get more familiar with you as this season goes on. What are some of the things that are going to learn about you?

A: “I think people are going to find out that I am the best scorer in the class of 2020, I can defend and play the point guard position as well. I’m also going to show that I can be ranked a top ten player in my class when it’s all over with. They are just going to see these next couple of years.”
