Who Shined on Day 1 of the National Prep Showcase?

Tyson Etienne

Lester Quinones | Class of 2019 (IMG Academy)

IMG Academy’s Lester Quinones did what he did best in day one’s action, shot the ball at a high level. He shot 12-19 from the field and finished with 30 points. He didn’t just contribute on the scoring front, but on the boards as well with 12 rebounds. One thing you know from Quinones is that he is going to make shots and he delivered today. Unfortunately for IMG they lost to Hargrave Military Academy 95-87, but Quinones along with his teammate Elias King were the bright spots for the Ascenders.

Giovanni Santiago | Class of 2019 (Hargrave Military Academy)

Hargrave Military Academy point guard Giovanni Santiago had a standout performance on a big stage. He played a big role in Hargrave’s 95-87 win over IMG Academy with his playmaking ability. He filled the stat sheet with 14 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. He holds offers from South Carolina, UAB and Samford thus far, but you should expect this list of schools to grow. There should be a lot more attention coming his way in the near future.

Mitch Doherty | Class of 2019 (Worcester Academy)

Worcester Academy Big Man and class of 2019 Albany commit Mitch Doherty was outstanding in the Rams win over Link Year Prep. He was almost perfect from the field shooting 10-12 with 23 points. Doherty can stretch it out to the perimeter as he knocked down both threes he took. He is aware of what he does on the floor and excels at it.

Tyson Etienne | Class of 2019 (Putnam Science Academy)

In a tough game between Putnam Science Academy and Sunrise Christian Academy, Putnam Science Academy won 85-82 and the Mustangs relied heavily upon Wichita State commit Tyson Etienne. Etienne finished with 20 points, grabbed 8 rebounds and had 5 assists. He got to anywhere he needed on the floor and made key plays for start to finish.

Chris Ledlum | Class of 2019 (Northfield Mount Hermon)

Class of 2019 Harvard commit Chris Ledlum may have had the most dominant performance of the day with 27 points and 14 rebounds. He plays with a nonstop motor and was unstoppable when driving to the basket. He did what he normally does with his drives to the basket, but has made strides with his skill set and has improved his jump shot. Needless to say he is on his way to dominate the Ivy League.

Ayinde Hikim | Class of 2019 (Mount Zion Prep)

Mount Zion Prep point guard Ayinde Hikim led his team to a big upset victory over Brewster Academy with top notch performance and a buzzer beater basket. Right from tip off Hikim got after it on the offensive end and pushed the pace. He is lightning quick and created plays for himself and others against some of the top guards in the country. He currently holds offers from Bryant, Cal State Bakersfield, Rider and Quinnipiac, but I would expect this list to grow.
