Class of 2019 wing Terrence Shannon from the Mac Irvin Fire (I.L.) has blown up this AAU season. Shannon went from only holding a couple of offers prior to AAU season to now offers from some of the biggest conferences in the country. Shannon did a Q&A on his rise and the latest with his recruitment.
Q: You have blown up this AAU season. What’s it like seeing this hard work pay off?
A: “It’s a great feeling, I was injured last year and couldn’t show my talents so I worked hard to get back healthy so I can perform. I still have a lot of work to do.”
Q: You have proven that you can play at a high level so what are you focused on now?
A: “I’m focused on improving my pull mid-range jumper and more. For our team we want to win peach jam if we qualify.”
Q: A lot of schools have jumped into your recruitment. Which ones are recruiting you the hardest?
A: “Texas A&M, DePaul, Loyola-Chicago, Saint Louis and Louisville.”
Q: What intrigues you about Texas A&M?
A: “When I looked it up, I liked their campus and they like that I can do a little bit of everything along with my toughness.”
Q: DePaul is trying to keep you home. What are a couple of reasons why you would go there?
A: “I could continue putting on for my city and I would have big support system there.”
Q: You listed Louisville as one of the schools after you the hardest. What do they like about your game?
A: “They like my transition and feel I can come and impact the team if I work hard.”
Q: When will you start to think about cutting your list of schools and what are you looking for in a school?
A: “I think I will start cutting it down maybe after AAU season and style of play and the relationship with the coach will separate on from the others.”
