Lance Ware has committed to the University of Kentucky, he tells Prep Circuit. Ware chose the Wildcats over Michigan and is their third commitment for the 2020 class. The Camden (N.J.) prospect broke down why he is headed to Kentucky and what this day means to him.
Q: Why did you decide on Kentucky?
A: “I’m committing to Kentucky because of Coach Calipari and their family-like atmosphere,” Ware said. “I just felt like it was the best opportunity where I could get high academics and basketball. Coach Calipari is one of the best coaches around and I just like everything about the situation.”
Q: What has John Calipari’s message been to you during visits and on the phone?
A: “He told me we are going to get in the gym every day and that I just need to be ready to be ready to be uncomfortable,” he said.
Q: When did you feel Kentucky separated themselves?
A: “During the in-home, I liked their message on how they would push me,” said Ware. “That really stuck out to me and it’s something I need so I knew they were the best for me.”
Q: What excites you about committing to Kentucky in front of the Camden community today?
A: “It’s a day to remember for my family, myself and there’s going to be a lot of great people there,” Ware said. “I’m excited to give back in some way to this community.”
Q: Put yourself in your shoes when you were younger, did you ever see yourself committed to Kentucky?
A: “A younger Lance would have never thought this would be possible until eighth grade where I started getting better and my body started changing,” he said. “I always knew I had a chance.”
