Class of 2020 forward Lance Ware tells Prep Circuit he is down to five schools in Kentucky, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, and Providence. The NY Renaissance and Camden High School (N.J.) standout talks about what stands out about each school and the official visits he has set.
Q: What were some of the reasons why Providence made your list of five?
A: “I like Providence especially Coach Ed Cooley and Coach Jeff Battle,” Ware said. “They’ve shown consistency throughout the whole process and have shown me how important I am to them. Over time I have just been learning about their program and I can see myself playing in Coach Cooley’s system.”
Q: What do you like about Michigan?
A: “They have a new coach in Juwan Howard, who played in the NBA,” he said. “He knows what he is talking about and what it’s going to take for me to get to the next level. I think it could be a good fit and I like what they have to offer. I’ve been on their campus and they have a crazy atmosphere.”
Q: What stands out about the Kentucky Wildcats?
A: “They’ve known about me for a while and it’s just a dream to be able to get a Kentucky offer,” said Ware. “John Calipari runs a world-class program and Kentucky is Kentucky.”
Q: What do you like about Ohio State?
A: “Chris Holtmann, Ryan Pedon and the rest of the staff run a great program,” he said. “Coach Holtmann and Coach Pedon have developed a good relationship with me for some time now. I like their play style and how they use their forwards.”
A: “Coach Jim Larrañaga has been around the game for a long time so he can give me a ton of knowledge and wisdom to make myself a better basketball player. It’s hard to find a coach with that much experience.”
Q: Have you set any official visits?
A: “As of right now, I have visits set to Ohio State on August 30th Michigan September 5th, Providence on September 12th, and Miami on September 28th,” he said.
[He also mentioned that he plans on visiting Kentucky, but hasn’t found the date yet.]
Q: When do you plan on making your decision?
A: “It all depends, I will have a better idea of where I want to go once I visit all these schools,” he said. “I will compare each of my official visits to help make my decision.”
