Marquette has landed its first commitment for the 2020 class in Justin Lewis. The Baltimore Polytechnic (M.D.) product decided on the Golden Eagles because of their effort recruiting him and his comfort level with the school.
“The consistent recruitment and the relationship we built throughout stood out to me,” said Lewis. “They were always there and it’s just a good school for me. I just felt like family there on my visit.
“They never really missed a game at events like the Top 100 camp,” he said. “The feedback they were giving me was incredible. That’s kind of how they separated themselves from the rest of the pack.”
The coaching staff plans on making him a centerpiece in their program right away, which meant a lot to him.
“They say that I can be the face of the program and they want to build it around me,” Lewis said. “That meant a lot to me and I had to hear that.
“He just wants me to be a three or four-man and have plays being run through me,” he said. “He just wants me to be a big part of the offense and I can come in and play right away.”
He has developed a lot of trust in Head Coach Steve Wojchiechowski and likes the person he is.
“It feels good because he is close to where I’m from and I’ve gotten to know him,” Lewis said. “He is a good guy who is about his business.”
Jayden Epps, a class of 2022 PG from King’s Fork (VA), just picked up an offer from Texas A&M.
