Class of 2021 forward Benny Williams had a breakout AAU season with Team Takeover. Williams shined at yet another event at the Hoop Group DC Jam Fest. He spoke to Prep Circuit about the rise in his recruitment and more.
Q: What has this season been like with Team Takeover and what are you looking forward to next year?
A: “Playing with Team Takeover has always been a dream of mine. You are going to see a lot of wins and we plan on winning Peach Jam next year.”
Q: How would you describe the way you play on the floor?
A: “I play the stretch four right now and I have a lot of mismatches when going to the basket and knock down shots as well.”
Q: Who are some of your most recent offers?
A: “After Peach Jam, Pittsburgh and Maryland offered me.”
Q: Who reached out to you from Maryland and what was their message?
A: “Coach Matt Brady and Mark Turgeon talk to me from the Maryland staff. They both have told me they plan on seeing me play more going forward.”
Q: Besides Pittsburgh and Maryland, who have extended offers to you?
A: “I also have offers from Stony Brook, Bryant and Georgetown, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Florida, Seton Hall, and Clemson.”
Q: Which schools have been the most active with you since June 15th?
A: “I’d say the schools that have been recruiting me the most are Virginia Tech, Syracuse, Pittsburgh and just mainly ACC schools.”
Q: What has Virginia Tech’s message been to you?
A: “They are just saying that I’m going to come in and be the main guy. It’s a great school and I plan on going on a visit there soon.”
Q: Do you have any visits planned in the future?
A: “I want to take visits to a lot of schools, but I’ve talked to coaches from Maryland, Pittsburgh, and Clemson about taking visits.”
