Class of 2020 point guard R.J. Davis’ recruitment has continued to pick up steam. After landing multiple high major offers in the early part of the AAU season, he has added even more. Following a strong showing with Archbishop Stepinac (NY) at the CHSAA June Team Camp, Davis received offers from Kansas and Texas. Davis went on an unofficial visit to Marquette and official visit to Georgetown in June. During his visit, Marquette Head Coach Steve Wojciechowski and his staff compared him to one of their current players.

“It was a good visit, I liked what they had to say,” said Davis. “They are losing four seniors next year so they need a guard to come in and contribute. They feel like I’m the right guy for them and I’m a top priority on their list. I’m looking forward to continuing to build a relationship with them. The campus is nice and it seems like a supportive and loving community.

“They showed the stat comparisons between me and Markus Howard’s seasons in the EYBL,” he said. “They had a video presentation and I see some similarities to his and my game. It was pretty cool to see how much our games resemble each other.”

Davis was excited to get on Georgetown’s campus to see what they had to offer. As the visit progressed, he felt a strong connection with the coaching staff.

“It was great as well and they are genuine people,” Davis said. “Georgetown speaks for itself and I look forward to learning more about the school and their culture. The students and players were very welcoming as soon as I got onto campus. We got to talk about things besides basketball and the coaching staff was amazing. I felt like it was a great visit and I feel like we connected well with each other.

“We were talking about it for a while and it turned out to be an official visit,” he said. “They continued to stay in contact with me throughout the whole year and I just wanted to get a feel for the school and the team. Patrick Ewing is in the hall of fame, an all-star and a part of the NBA Dream team. I just wanted to see it all first hand and get a feel for his school.”
