If you paid attention to recruiting scene this past week, you would have noticed that Elijah Taylor’s recruitment has taken off. The class of 2020 big man from Imhotep Charter (P.A.) has added offers from Dayton, Pittsburgh, Penn State, Florida, Georgia, and UConn since his standout performance at the Philly Live 1. He spoke to Prep Circuit prior to these offers coming in and mentioned four schools are recruiting him the hardest.
Q: Whenever someone watches Elijah Taylor, what is something they will say about him?
A: “He’s going to put everything out there and leave everything on the floor. Whether I’m shooting the ball well or not, you are going to see that kid plays very hard.”
Q: What is the latest with your recruitment?
A: “Everyone has been calling and making sure they are in the mix. I’ve been in good contact with Princeton, Seton Hall, VCU and Saint Joseph’s.”
Q: Princeton has been looking to land you for quite some time. What’s the intrigue with them?
A: “For one, this is an opportunity you can’t miss as an inner city kid with an opportunity to go to Princeton. The name speaks for itself along with the brand it has and the academics. It’s a great opportunity.”
Q: What stands out about Seton Hall?
A: “I like how family oriented they are and how serious they take me as a human and not just an athlete. I like that they have piqued my interest not only on the court but off as well. They are involved with me as if I’m one of their own even though I haven’t committed yet.”
Q: VCU is another school you mentioned that has been on you consistently. What do you like about them?
A: “It’s really quite similar as they love me as if I already have a Rams jersey on. It’s great, they are great people and they have spoken to everything I want.”
Q: Saint Joseph’s is looking to keep you close to home for college. What do you like about Billy Lange and his staff?
A: “They just got Billy Lange in there, I talk to Coach Griffin and they just got one of our recent graduates in Chereef Knox. Billy Lange is really nice and he actually saw me all the way back in sixth grade.”
Q: What’s the timeline with your decision?
A: “I’m taking my time with it, thinking everything through and making sure everything is in order. I’m just going to keep looking to see which school fits me the best.”
